Elazığ overlooks the Upper Euphrates region and provides access to Harput's fortress, historic religious buildings and broad lake landscapes created around the Keban Dam.
April to June and September to October are comfortable. Summers are hot and dry, while winters can be cold and snowy.
City buses and taxis reach central districts and Harput. A car is useful for Hazar Lake, Keban and regional excursions.
