Perched on the slopes of Mount Uludağ in Bursa’s Temenyeri area, Hunkar Mansion Museum is a historic residence where architecture, royal history and sweeping city views come together. Built in 1844 as a hunting lodge for Sultan Abdülmecid’s visit to Bursa, the mansion was commissioned by the provincial governor, Salih Pasha, and completed in just 19 days. Its architecture reflects the French Empire style, while its interiors preserve glimpses of Ottoman court life. The mansion also hosted Sultan Abdülaziz and Sultan Mehmed V Reşad, as well as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during his visits to Bursa in 1922, 1925, 1931 and 1935. Today, visitors can explore historic reception rooms, period furnishings, porcelain collections and rooms associated with Atatürk. Outside, mature trees and panoramic views across Bursa provide a peaceful setting in which to appreciate the mansion’s remarkable location. More than a historic building, Hunkar Mansion offers a glimpse into the people and events that shaped the city’s past.
