The Green Mosque and Green Tomb are among Bursa's most remarkable monuments of early Ottoman architecture and art. Located in the historic Yeşil district, both buildings date from the reign of Sultan Mehmed I in the early 15th century, a period when the Ottoman state was rebuilding after the political turmoil known as the Interregnum. The Green Mosque is admired for its architectural details, decorative craftsmanship and richly ornamented interior. Nearby, the Green Tomb stands out for its distinctive exterior tiles in shades of green and turquoise. It is the mausoleum of Sultan Mehmed I, an important ruler in the restoration of Ottoman unity. Take time to appreciate the intricate tile patterns, geometric designs and craftsmanship that distinguish these monuments. Together, the Green Mosque and Green Tomb offer visitors a meaningful introduction to Bursa's Ottoman heritage and the artistic traditions that flourished in the early centuries of the empire.
