Amasya practical travel guide

Amasya is a compact historic city set along the Yeşilırmak River beneath steep cliffs. Ottoman houses, royal rock tombs and waterside walks make it one of northern Türkiye's most atmospheric small-city destinations.

Top experiences

  • ✓Walk beside the riverside Ottoman houses.
  • ✓See the Rock Tombs of the Pontic Kings.
  • ✓Climb toward Harşena Castle for elevated city views.
  • ✓Visit the Museum of Amasya and the historic Bayezid II complex.

Best time to visit
